Such an insightful and powerful talk at our inset today. Has given me a lot to think about going forward with my planning for the term ahead.

Tomorrow marks a month since starting my new post, so a good time for an update; moving away from a HOY role, I’m now an Assistant Curriculum Lead of English in Greater Manchester. Enjoying being back in the classroom full time and surrounding myself in all things English! 📚📝

Been a while, so a little update; it’s been a year since I was offered my new post! It’s been a refreshing challenge moving into a curriculum role this year, and can’t believe it’s that time again to say goodbye to Y11. Looking forward to moving into KS3 lead this coming year!

In the spirit of vowing to tweet more, here’s a snapshot of some English-y highlights this year; a very Wordsworth (or Taylor?) moment in the lakes, many visits to pretty bookshops, a high-brow theme for world book day and a fantastic evening in convo with Annie Mac.

100+ Lit paper 2 exams in (with still nearly 200 to go), a set of lit paper 1 mocks done and an incoming set of Lang paper 1 mocks on Monday…marking is slowly taking over my life 🫠

Taking advantage of the bus journey to the theatre, with some of our delightful Y9s; a rare moment of teacher calm (particularly needed after a midnight post-prom finish last night).😌📖

Such a fantastic afternoon taking some of our students to the Shakespeare North Playhouse to watch a Not Too Tame performance of Twelfth Night (starring the one and only Les Dennis)!

🏳️‍🌈| Pride Celebrations Last week to wrap up Pride Month Celebrations, some of our LGBTQ+ students and allies visited Queer Lit bookshop in Manchester where we were treated to delicious hot chocolates and such welcoming staff!

And that’s a wrap on this year, and one year at my new school! Just a crack of dawn start tomorrow for a couple of days to Belgium on a music trip and then the holidays can really begin!

Today’s itinerary consisted of a fantastic music tech workshop and tour of a concert hall, and then lots of chocolate and waffles, before a stunning open air concert in the afternoon!

A delightful way to end the term, with the most wonderful students! Loved being an honorary member of team music for the weekend! 🎶🇧🇪
