Today I had a student bring a gift (that she bought with her own money) for a peer (not a best friend) because she was afraid that classmate wouldn’t get any other Christmas presents. This is why I love my job❤️❤️❤️

It's National School Counseling Week!! Social-Emotional growth is one of the State Board's outcomes and counselors work every day with students in this area. The theme of this week is "School Counselors: Providing Lessons for Life." Thank you to all the school counselors in KS!!

During one of my small groups today, we discussed the difference between listening and hearing. When I had students name a good listener and why, majority wanted to tell my why their parents were NOT good listeners. The reasons? Cell phones, TV, and video games. So sad.

This year I started practicing mindfulness with students at the beginning of every classroom lesson. I was honestly surprised at how much they LOVE it! Today, I had 2 students (siblings) bring me this as a gift. They were so excited to give it to me. I love this job🥰

I’m thankful for my kiddos and this career🤗
