I think I am more exhausted working from home because I draw energy from being around my students and my colleagues. Zooming everyday is a good substitute, but the spirit of spontaneous energy in the physical school environment is something I love.

I’m baaaack! New year, new position. Time to reintroduce myself! I’m a 5th grade teacher from STL. After taking a year off to sub, I’m about to begin year 8️⃣ of teaching and I couldn’t be more excited!

I’m going to do what is best for my students and give them all a complete, well-rounded education.

A middle school in my district needed 18 classes covered by subs today. This is in a state that has made it so that anyone with a high school diploma can sub and in a district that has nearly doubled the sub pay. If teaching is ‘so easy’, why has the shortage only become worse?

teachers have been saying for 3 years now how overworked & disrespected they feel AND have been offering plenty of thoughtful, reasonable solutions that no one cares to listen to spare me the “why are teachers leaving the profession in droves” thinkpieces at this time

Just because teachers are salaried employees does not obligate us to spend nights, weekends & vacations engaged in prep work for the teaching The Dept. of Ed could never afford to pay us an hourly rate considering what we do. They got a great deal giving us a 10-month salary

Heartbreaking & terrifying every time, but hit harder than usual. This school is 4mi away from mine. When will lawmakers decide that enough is enough? Should’ve been after Columbine. I’ll be praying for victims & families, but I’ll find a way to do something. We need action.
