As a reward for our hard work today we were given some time to read with our friends. We love reading 📖 #smithdownreaders

This morning we were shocked to discover someone had been in our classroom and built a den. It looked like they love making aeroplanes! They had left other objects behind too. We wrote questions on our own paper aeroplanes and we are hoping they respond tomorrow #smithdownwriters

In English we worked as teams to sequence the different parts from our model text. We had to use our reading skills as well as our team work skills #smithdownreaders

Today we worked as a team and compared two digit numbers to 30 using our greater than, less than and equal to symbols. We made the numbers with dienes to help us compare #smithdownmaths

In Science today we really enjoyed measuring the different girth’s of the different trees in our playground. We measured using measuring tapes and recording the thickest of the trunk in cm #smithdownsci #smithdownmaths

Some children have working hard at home writing messages in their home language to show in school. We are so proud!

Lovely to celebrate our OUTSTANDING Ofsted report with all the staff this evening

Our focus last week was learning about a bakery. We looked at key vocabulary for items we could buy. On Friday we were lucky enough to visit a local bakery. The children enjoyed sandwiches and donuts :) #smithdownlanguage

This week the language class have been looking at going on a journey. On Friday Miss Mcfarlane invited us to make journey sticks #smithdownlanguage Miss McFarlane the children chose the colours based on how they felt.

In the last 2 weeks the children have been learning about the types of jobs there are in the Emergency Services. During this time we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Fire officers in their engine. #smithdownlanguage Smithdown Primary
