My 1st missing portrait. My mum died when my son was 13 days old. I wished we had a photo of the three of us together so I decided to make my own using 3 different reference photos. It will hang in his nursery as a happy reminder of how much he was loved by his wonderful Granny.

Grief makes books even more powerful. Whether or not I can read this page out loud without tears at bed time has become my grief barometer. Today is a no.

Katie is creating a very very special missing portrait for me at the moment. I’ve seen a first draft and it is truly beautiful - it will mean the world to me. She has captured the essence of someone that sadly she never met perfectly.

My mum died 19th July 1985. Lit & I were married on 31st May 1986. My amazing Katie has created the wedding portrait that I would have given the world for. Priceless, beautiful, and me flanked by the two women who I loved with all my heart. I hope they’ve met up somewhere now x
