Y3 English exploring Calligram poetry using similes. The children have used their published poems to create Christmas cards which are being donated to patients of Lincolnshire hospital patients through their Christmas Card appeal. We hope this will put a smile on someone’s face.

If only you could have seen the mess that was created in the classroom whilst these Christmas cards were being made. I feel like they turned out really sweet 🥹

I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed teaching last term's Geography 🗺️📍Here are some pieces of work towards the end of the unit that looked at map symbols, a map key, points on a map, ordinate survey maps and coordinates.

Descriptive Diagrams 📝 - The children had to sketch the setting we were in. - They had to use expanded noun phrases and similes to label the setting. This was in prep for upcoming Eng work where I would like the children to be more detailed with their descriptive writing.

This made my heart happy! This morning everyone had a 'check in' at the calm corner. This child wrote 'I am happy today cause my work is on the wall.' after coming in and seeing his work on the 'Work We Are Proud Of' wall 🥹

Recently I've really enjoyed planning Guided Reading. We looked the Holocaust (in an age appropriate way for Y3) and shared an extract from The Diary of Anne Frank for our Guided Reading focus 📖

The latest book to win the 'Book Vote' for our end of the day story. So far Y3 are loving it! I love reading books to my class, doing character voices, creating excitement and leaving the children on a cliffhanger wanting to read more makes it so enjoyable! 🙂

I'm excited to introduce our new topic of 'Flight' using these texts! Tomorrow, we will be investigating hot air balloons and how they work using a hairdryer and plastic bag! ✈️

In History last term our topic was 'Inventions', in Art we designed and created 3D models of an invention that could help us on our school's farm. This term in English we have created an advert poster using persuasive writing, including imperative verbs and rhetorical questions.

In Eng I read a model text of an adventure story. The children drew what they imagined to support with including detail and creative writing within their work. Later in the week, once the children planned their own adventure story they repeated the task drawing their version.

It gets to the Summer 2 term and I feel like with the looming anxiety of moving up year groups the children start to doubt themselves. This morning's 'Morning Task' was simple but it created lots of celebration surrounding all of the children and how wonderful they are! ❤️

💙 Happy Father's Day! 💙 The children loved creating cards for the special men in their life. Inside they wrote five reasons why they love them.
