1C have been using their knowledge of Human Rights and the #UNCRC to create posters of their rights! Great to see some enthusiasm and commitment- especially on a Friday afternoon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️Portobello High Sch
I’m excited for S3 Historians to be exploring the Somme through soldiers’ eyes. Trevor Royle’s ‘Flowers of the Forest’ is a great way to promote reading + use of primary sources We are all responsible for the development and love of #literacy! Portobello High Sch #achievingtogether
A huge thank you to Holocaust Education + Helen McCord for ‘Who were the 6 million?’. I’m looking forward to including Trochenbrod in our Holocaust curriculum Portobello High Sch to provide a glimpse into the social + cultural life of Jewish people before 1939- an incredibly moving session!
I was overjoyed to see young people getting involved with some WW2 home-learning this week! Portobello High Sch Not only did many people create some ration recipes, but several went above and beyond and actually made some dishes! What a great example of #IDL and #achievingtogether
We’re very excited to be getting involved on Saturday with #TeamPortobello Portobello High Sch Pupils can’t wait to take the floor and argue their case! ⭐️
Today’s first task in Higher Modern Studies asked pupils to listen to last night’s #Newscast BBC Sounds as we’ve been thinking about health inequalities- we had lots of discussion about the new smoking proposal and debated its potential effectiveness! Fab work at Portobello High Sch
It was great to end the term with lovely S3 who enjoyed engaging with primary sources, categorising them, interpreting quotations and adding recall- “How Fully” style! ⭐️ Portobello High Sch There was evidence of fab group work, focus + a growing sense of confidence! 📚👍🏼
What a fab lesson- History in the outdoors, led by Lisa Williams from Edinburgh Caribbean Association who expertly led us around places in Portobello linked to the trade of enslaved people. An engaging way to remember that the trade isn’t just about exams but is a “lesson on humanity” Portobello High Sch
Fab revision tonight with S4 Historians Portobello High Sch pupils retrieving knowledge from memory about civil rights campaigns up until 1968! Fab effort from the team! ✨🧠
