First half term as Head of Dept done and dusted! Without a doubt the quickest September of my career.

Was told today by the longest teaching member of my dept that they think I’ve done really well in my first term as HoD 🥹🥹 100% made my day and such a nice end to the term.

At the end of teaching 150 Year 11’s for one hour, one of them gave me this. It’s a bloody hard job, but it’s a great job too. 🥰 Roll on Monday’s exam!

I’ve easily had more SMHW notifications this weekend than any other app 😵‍💫 my fault for telling Year 11 they could message if they had any questions before the exam 🫣

Parents, if your child goes on a residential between now and the end of the year, go and give the teachers a quick thank you when you pick your child up. You’d be amazed how little it happens, and it means a huge amount.

So many factors as to why, but I’ll tell you one that isn’t - the quality of the teachers and teaching. So stop trying to duplicate the teaching private to state. Want to prove my point? Swap Eton teachers with state school teachers for a week - see what happens.
