Funny how we have no issue over-policing racialized communities but struggle to get vaccines into these communities to protect them.

Enhanced restrictions may be needed in Ontario, but we must be cautious of more policing. Low-income racialized people (many are essential workers) have a history of being over-policed. They've also been hardest hit by #COVID19. We can't police our way out of this pandemic.

One of the worst things about experiencing this pain is that Palestinians need to mourn but also are expected to educate the world from scratch, every time, and make the case, for why they must be treated like humans.

Visited the Anjuman-e-Fakhri Masjid for a cultural exchange between Mississauga’s Bohra community & the Mississauga’s of the Credit First Nation. We need to have more meaningful exchanges with Indigenous communities & I thank the Bohra community for hosting this important event.

After 4 years as a Mississauga resident, I finally got a library card 🎉. Had an amazing experience with Mississauga Library - Inactive staff this morning at Courtney Park. Extremely helpful, kind and respectful. Can’t wait for my continued visits! 📚

Love sharing Muslim artists with the students! Today, we highlighted T.O artist Mustafa and learned about spoken word poetry & Islamic and hip-hop genres. Ss gave permission to share some of their feelings that they jotted down while listening to his song, Air Forces.

We had a school wide inquiry on Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. This is a snapshot of the way FDK children celebrated and explored their own hair and identities using dyed pasta. We ❤️ our hair!

A glimpse into our Start With A Smile evening, where new Kindergarten Lightning Leaders and their families were greeted with activities, provocations and conversations! If your child was born in 2018, call the office at 905-451-1415 to register your child for FDK at SWL ✨

Our first in-person assembly since 2019! Lightning Leaders and Readers were given awards, the Grade 3/4s astounded us with bucket drumming and we all sang and danced to our school song 🎉⚡️

🧵We are heartbroken to hear of the tragic passing of YRDSB Student Trustee Munira Chakera. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. We are working closely with our schools to ensure our students and staff are supported.

Mondays are for murals 🎨! Our graduating Grade 5 class worked together with artist Mike Ogrodnik to create an incredible mural that showcases Peel District School Board character traits and SWL’s values and diverse school community. We ❤️ how it turned out!

Throwback to this time, last year! There’s something magical about setting up a classroom and making it reflective, inclusive and welcoming for all 💕. Feeling nostalgic about not doing it this year, but definitely enjoying mat leave 😌
