Seen alongside Teach First’s decision to no longer focus on “top grads” this seems to mark an abandonment of the idea that different profiles of recruit might be drawn to different brands/pathways and require a different training offer. That seems a mistake to me.

Could we build planning and marking (which I’m going to use as umbrella terms as getting ready for the next lesson and doing the necessary following the last one) into a total number of hours? What would the numbers look like, would it be better?

The more I look at it the more I can’t see how schools will be able to continue recruiting learning support assistants, & receptionists & many other roles which - let’s be honest - have often been done by women who needed term time-only jobs and so accepted low pay.

The austerity gods can’t perform their economic miracles unless we all austerity much harder.

It will be interesting to see if there’s any discernible effect on the National Reference Tests.

Also have Ofqual said how they are going to do comparable outcomes? Could we have grade deflation?!

I cannot stress highly enough to teachers applying for jobs that giving specific examples of your experience/practice lifts applications above those that just refer to applying policies or adapting learning.
Everyone can say they do stuff, but showing it is often more effective.
