It's nice of Rachael Jefferson, PhD ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’• to explain herself - although it's weird of her to be so openly sexist.
I can't work out why she thinks I was denying her experience - that was not my intention, rather to encourage her not to stoke division between research and teachers.

People would be shocked at what crawls out when you lift the lid on many 'care' facilities, often for the most vulnerable in our society. Martin Barrow does amazing work in this area, but it is more prevalent and horrifying than anyone would imagine.

Exciting to see our assemblies quoted in the news (not a lot of sixth forms can claim that):

Trying to clarify what is self interest and what isnโ€™t! So does NowTeach encourage and support people that may not become teachers to do so or not? Never had anything to do with them but if they have any sort of positive impact on recruitment we donโ€™t want to lose them.

Today, our Student President Ruweida and one of our Vice Presidents Sarah went over to Harris Academy Clapham to deliver some words of wisdom to the Year students about how to prepare for Year 11 next year.

Neuroteachers Agree with caveats: 1) know the context and history of the school 2) avoid hyperbolic language - prison, anarchy 3) avoid sweep statements about children with send - they wonโ€™t cope/ they will cope 4) donโ€™t skew the point just because you donโ€™t like the philosophy - trad/prog

A really good reminder that one of the reasons for rules in schools is to teach students things (learning being the point of school) - particularly how to interact with others positively, successfully, socially.

Who wants to help invigilate the most premier mathematics competition (for school aged pupils) in the world? I've just signed up and can't wait! ๐Ÿ˜

The great thing about having a birthday that reliably marks the beginning of summer weather is that I often get summer clothes to go with it (this year a meat thermometer too).

As our Year 12s begin to start thinking about next steps after school, what about librarianship?
Take a look at the poster outlining this varied and challenging career in the Library. Featuring Ms Taylor's own journey from Library Assistant to UCL Information Studies to Harris Westminster! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿคฉ

Thatโ€™s an awesome fact.
Obviously thereโ€™s no reason for FLT to apply and so it probably wouldnโ€™t, but itโ€™s cool that thereโ€™s a neat example (and also that itโ€™s Pythagorean)

James Handscombe Laura McInerney I often say they should make the job 8am-6pm Mon-Fri with no other work allowed to be done at evenings or weekends. So no laptops to take home, no books off site, same holidays. That gets you to 1950 hours, so 2000 would probably seem about right. Hard sell to current staff.
