Y11 appreciation post - I’m so impressed by my class’ resilience and hard work during this strange time. This group are working really hard towards a grade 4. Today, unseen poetry: class example, guided example, own example.

Having sent off a few job applications now, I’ve noticed that applying for teaching jobs is WAY harder than it needs to be. We need a centralised platform like linked in. Every single application I’ve filled in so far has been different and fiddly and confusing. Seems unnecessary

Driving 2.5 hours to Bristol for an interview, not getting the job, driving 2.5 hours back and straight in to y11 parents evening... Is it Easter yet 😂

Got Y9 to act out A1S1 of Macbeth today from memory, split into thirds as the three witches. Loved it after a Covid year of staying in seats facing the front! And also an engaging start to #Macbeth I think!

I did Y7 art cover today and heard some whispering excitedly “omg yesss that’s my English teacher, she’s so nice!!” 🥺 But then one student was almost immediately sick everywhere. Sooo you win some you lose some 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

All week more and more students in my classes were getting Covid everyday. I suspected it’d be a matter of time for me! Thought the pandemic was “over” 😂😬 #CovidRound2

One of my favourite tutor group things - I saw it on Twitter (sorry I can’t remember who posted!) and loved it. Bday cards for everyone, signed by everyone. We don’t have tutor on Friday but one of the students came in to ask if I had a card for her and was really excited🥺

I’m starting as KS3 English Lead after half term so this is perfect timing! Looking forward to this.

I had all KS3 classes today and had such a wonderful day chatting books with all of the students. They were allowed to dress up (if they wanted) and so did we - and it was so joyful. Much needed after the last few years.

Looking at students’ books is something I often procrastinate but today, looking at my Y10 books was an absolute pleasure. So proud of their work. This wasn’t a tick and flick thing - I just looked over it and put a summative comment as shown. Hoping to encourage pride in work.

We’ve been talking about MH and well being in PSHE this term. We decided today we’d live it rather than talk about it. The students all brought in breakfast/food to share in the dining room P1 + a few activities. It was so joyful to see them connecting and enjoying themselves 😍
