If you have a birdbath, place pebbles or a few flat rocks in the bottom. Also a drop of disinfectant, too. Remember to clean them. Shells, pebbles or rocks allow the birds to gauge how deep the water is. It also helps them if your birdbath is slick. Place them in filtered light.
