In this video, Henry VIII talks about rival queens, conflicting religions and one of the most brutal, botched executions in British history. youtu.be/1XzSasSXsTE #history #historyvideo #youtube #maryqueenofscots

A replica rack on display in the Tower of London. The most feared implement of torture, Anne Askew was so badly injured after being racked in the Tower that she had to be carried to her execution, with a seat provided at the stake on which she was burned in 1546 #torture

A suit of armour belonging to Henry VIII, from around 1540. The decoration, which is gilt, was designed by Hans Holbein. Henryโ€™s armour very much demonstrates his increasing size as his reign progressed. On display in the Tower of London #HenryVIII

Wooden heads & hands, carved in the 1680s to be used in The Line of Kings display in the Tower of London (where historic royal armour was displayed on lifelike figures). The great Grinlong Gibbons carved the figure of Charles I. My favourite is Henry VIII -instantly recognisable!
