OTD 1971: In his first race of the season the Major Dick Hern-trained Brigadier Gerard (Joe Mercer) easily won the 2,000 Guineas Newmarket Racecourse by 3 lengths from Mill Reef & Two Swallows in 3rd. In the equine 🌟's racing career he won 17 of his 18 races. 🏇#RacingMemories
