Real interesting research into teacher recruitment and retention. Thinking about the implication for Teachers of the Deaf, whose numbers have fallen 19% since 2011. Pleased to be part of the Department for Education Expert Advisory Group on Early Years SEND this morning. Important to be able to raise National Deaf Children's Society's evidence on how the SEND system does (or doesn't) give #deaf children the very best start in life.

Scary that anyone really thinks that large open-plan classrooms for multiple classes are even vaguely appropriate. Massively challenging for deaf children who have legal rights that such classrooms probably ignore.

The government says that British Sign Language will be taught as a GCSE in England from September 2025. Parents, teachers and the deaf and hearing communities have taken part in a 12 week consultation to decide on the content of the qualification.
