The thoughts and prayers of the LAPD are with everyone tragically effected by the mass shooting in #ThousandOaks. 11 innocent people senselessly murdered, including Ventura County Sheriff Sgt Ron Helus who was the 1st deputy on scene and heroically sacrificed his life to save others.

Honored and humbled to help kick off this morning’s Run To Remember LA ceremonies. With each step and every mile—the thousands of runners participating honor the heroes that have tragically made the ultimate sacrifice.

Yesterday marked 6 months since 12 people were tragically taken from us at the Boardline Bar and Grill. Members of Ch7 took a moment while preparing for this year’s Police Unity Tour to pay our respects to lives lost, and to the selfless heroism of Ventura County Sheriff Sgt Ron Helus.

A somber day as a hero was laid to rest. The silent respect for a leader, and the heartfelt words from his daughter—we will never forget the sacrifice Sgt. Steve Licon made dutifully serving his community, and we will always honor his memory as a community guardian.
