Players…. You have come too far NOT to give yourself an opportunity to “play”at the next level.. Better to play infront of 3,000 fans than be on the sidelines infront of 30,000. Go where there is a real opportunity, DO NOT get hung up on the # after the “D”… Let’s talk!

A word I was taught early in my sports career…. “Gratitude” The act of showing appreciation. When a coach contacts you and is interested in you, DMs, Calls, emails, and texts you, return the call.. Successful people always take the meeting and show…You guessed it, “Gratitude”

This is so spot on!!! Unfortunately too many young coaches think yelling is teaching. Coach, train, develop, with clear expectations. Discuss with player their areas of opportunity, acknowledge effort and improvement, have a clear vision that can be learned and implemented.

Tua Tagovailoa on previous coach Brian Flores. He would berate him, demean him, and tell him he sucked. Tua said, “You start to believe it.” I have developed Championship QBs for 30 plus years with positive reinforcement. Belittling and demeaning aren’t coaching qualities.

“There’s a lot of negative in the world and a lot of people telling you when you do stuff wrong. To really maximize someone, it’s beneficial for someone to be showing them a vision of their greatest self,” Mike McDaniel Winners have a shared vision of lifelong growth and success

You cannot create organizational excellence and inspire attitude, pride and effort, by retaining the people that created the failed culture. Winners and losers “do not” do it the same!

Gotta love yourself first before you can mentor and model for your players. Grown men acting as bullies is just a byproduct of insecurities. Nobody is perfect but self awareness and a growth mindset are non negotiables.

Winning 101…. Loved what Steve Sarkisian said after the game… His job is to be the “model of composure.” The lesson: Have the discipline to manage your emotions not to minimize your players during times of adversity.

Listening to Mike Vrabel talking about his new HC job for the Pats; all coaches will earn the right to be here daily, young players will earn their stripes, every player will know he has their backs…. Love his approach, old school Trust and verify, Love and accountability.

I’m watching QBs like CJ Stroud, Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, etc take steps back & every week some of better college QBs will make some mistakes & we forget these guys AREN’T & SHOULDN’T be expected to be FINISHED products! Coaches still need to COACH them… keep making same
