A Douglas fir from last year's South Scotland Institute of Chartered Foresters visit to Glenlee. Not sure how tall but certainly 50m+. It's got a nice sheltered spot so hopefully will stand for many years to come. A fabulous tree. #thicktrunktuesday
Good to see The Crichton starting to promote their unique tree collection more. It has a fascinating history with important roles played by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Edinburgh & Darjeeling.
There has been a lot of talk about cultivation for woodland creation. Forestry Commission Forest Research in association with the Forestry and Climate Change Working group and RoyalForestrySociety a webinar on getting it right rfs.org.uk/events/2021/ja… Practical advice, not policy, and free
Found this Cedar The Crichton yesterday. Not sure how I've not noticed it before. It's quite a big tree!
