Naval medics test ‘air ambulance’ concept at sea for the first time by HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Richmond, flying paramedics/doctors to the casualty, providing life-saving aid on the frigate then transferring the patient to the carrier's hospital. 🚁🚑

Another living naval link with #WW2 has been cut with the passing of former submariner Jim Booth, the last surviving member of an elite team who ensured success on D-Day. In his X-craft mini submarine, he guided ships into Sword Beach on June 6 1944.

Meanwhile, this Christmas somewhere under the ocean a Royal Navy submarine (with a crew of around 130) is on patrol maintaining the nuclear deterrent
