The aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales is due to sail from Portsmouth to take the place of HMS Queen Elizabeth to join the NATO Exercise Steadfast Defender. As ever, sailing will be subject to suitable tide and weather conditions.

Good to visit both HMS Queen Elizabeth & HMS Prince of Wales to see the superb efforts being made to return HMS Prince of Wales to sea & onward to #SteadfastDefender24 …& to thank our amazing sailors from both ships & across the Royal Navy who are making it happen.

Routine pre-sailing checks yesterday identified an issue with a coupling on HMS Queen Elizabeth starboard propeller shaft. As such, the ship will not sail on Sunday.

HMS Prince of Wales will take her place on NATO duties and will set sail for Exercise Steadfast Defender as soon as possible.

This week we welcomed over 70 Scouts and Cubs from the 1st Southbourne Sea Scouts onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth.

These youngsters were given a tour and a chance to meet some of our sailors, learning about their different roles and life onboard the Royal Navy's Flagship.

Great to spend some time with our wonderful medical team on HMS Queen Elizabeth today. I left thoroughly inspired hearing about what you are doing to optimise the health of all onboard. Thank you for all you do.

As well as opportunities to take part in numerous sports, the RN provides the chance to earn sporting qualifications.

This week, sailors from HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales undertook a Level 1 boxing coaching course, delivered by England Boxing and supported by Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity 🥊

Exercise #SteadfastDefender24 will be the largest NATO exercise in decades, with 90,000 forces from all 31 Allies and Sweden.

It will demonstrate our transatlantic unity, strength, and ability to deploy forces rapidly, across thousands of kilometres, in any conditions

2000 sailors and 400 Royal Marines will take part in Steadfast Defender as part of the UK's commitment to @Nato.

8 Royal Navy will operate in a potent naval force of more than 50 allied warships as 30 nations demonstrate the alliance’s collective resolve.

Our Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess takes great pride in fundraising for charitable causes.

This week they donated £2000 to Naomi House & Jacksplace, supporting the amazing work taking place at the Naomi House and Jacksplace hospices for children and young adults.

The next generation of Royal Navy Officers have arrived!
This group of Officer Cadets from Britannia Royal Naval College will spend the next few weeks living and working alongside our Junior Rates, getting their first taste of life on board a warship.

More than 6,500 Royal Navy personnel - regulars, Royal Naval Reserve, submariners, Fleet Air Arm, surface fleet, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary - are deployed or on call this Yuletide.

To all - and to their loved ones at home holding the fort - a very Merry Christmas.

Great to host Vice Admiral Christophe Cluzel from Marine nationale onboard, alongside UK Carrier Strike Group. Visiting us is just part of a wider programme focused on finding ways for the RN and the Marine Nationale to work ever closer together.

809 NAS - the UK's 2nd front-line F-35B Lightning squadron - is re-born.

It will fly the fifth-generation stealth fighter from RAF Marham, HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Among many highlights this week was a few hours onboard HMS Queen Elizabeth & a chat with the excellent medical team including Surg Lt Cdr Nathaniel Roocroft (DPMO) who worked with Greenwich Hospital to produce 'Flagship Performance' - a superb, practical guidebook on health & performance.
