Sandbag disposal: As residents in some areas begin removing sandbags, we anticipate questions about proper disposal and have had several residents ask if they should be taken to the beach. Please DON'T DUMP YOUR SANDBAGS ON THE BEACH. Our sandbags were filled with regular dirt.

Good news for the morning: Our rivers are officially in the process of cresting. We don't anticipate any worsening conditions. Areas that have not already flooded should not flood. Expect to see similar conditions as we saw yesterday into tomorrow.

With thunderstorms in the forecast throughout the day, MIGCFD crews use the time for indoor training. Seen here, Engineer Miller (78A), gives a class on chain saw maintenance and operations. Learning proper PM results in less down time and wear and tear on our equipment.

Tonight the department answered it's 4,000th alarm for 2019. That's 1,480 calls more than this date in 2016. We couldn't do it without the hardwork of our dedicated employees. Along with the help of our mutual aid partners from Horry SC Fire Rescue, Midway Fire Rescue, and Georgetown Fire/EMS
