I took some time at home after my son’s birth. It was the most meaningful time of my life. I was lucky. But this shouldn’t be a matter of luck. All Americans should be able to take time — for a new baby, to get better or care for a sick loved one, and to enjoy life.

Paid leave should be a no-brainer. We held our first hearing on paid leave in 5 years. It should not have taken this long. As Ranking Member of the Workforce Protections subcommittee, I’m fighting to make paid leave a guaranteed right, not a privilege.
