There should be no debate!!! I’m sure each local authority would be able to stand up and shout about the fantastic work social care does in supporting our communities and alongside the NHS! Maybe they should see the pressures that frontline workforce are faced with at this time

A short thread /3 Last few days the news has been full of #Socialcare but little talk of younger or disabled people, community & a positive vision for change. Members have a clear vision for change captured in this graphic by Dr Pen Mendonca as part of contribution to #socialcarefuture

Today is my anniversary of starting with Somerset County Council. It’s been an amazing 13 years to my professional career & personal development 💫 Even though now is the toughest time of my career, I remain passionate to my profession & organisation. We will get through this 💪🏻

Over the past 2 days, I have had the privilege of reviewing 4 compliments that have been sent to me for the staff within Taunton locality. This has made my week, given the demands that are faced, we are certainly doing something right. Good work team

It’s World suicide prevention day 2021 with the theme of creating hope through action. Why not take a few minutes today to try and encourage the confidence of hope into someone’s life. This could be offering a compliment, a pay it forward gesture or just reaching out 💖

What a fab idea! The fight against prejudices. Each person has a title "unemployed", "refugee", "bipolar" etc - but by listening to their story, you realise how much you shouldn't "judge a book by its cover". Innovation at its best 🙌🏼humanlibrary.org 🌈💛 #unjudgesomeone

We all have tools around us to help promote our mental health. It may be hard to see at times, some need to look a little deeper for tools available to help us thrive. Today we’ve taken a morning to be in the great outdoors, which promotes our mental health #WorldMentalHealthDay

Thankyou @somersetcountycouncil @schoolofshabs for letting me join your #carnivalofpractice this morning. Great way to refresh my supervisory and practice educator skills to assist in continuing to support learners and newly qualified practitioners #antiracistpractice

3am quote of the night shift - “the doctor has taken away her capacity” which led to a 3am learning session! The evidence and assessment process, the decision required and the differences between Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act

Question at 5am - what does a social worker do? That was a big question for my tired brain with lots of information to share about the role of a social worker. Lots of inquisitive people and teaching/learning opportunities - that’s why it’s great to be a social worker

What a week to be considering mental health, given it is the start of GCSEs and many young people potentially feeling anxious to each looming exam. Our young people may need a little more support over the next few weeks
