❓ Quick but insightful exercise: Rank your top 15 #product initiatives of 2020 by impact How many of lower ones would you trade for another top initiative? Now is still the chance to improve that list for next year 😉 Great impulse from John Cutler buff.ly/2Ko9x4K

Stop treating your launches like a surprise birthday party or you’re going to be blowing out the candles alone. Always build anticipation. You NEED an audience that’s not only excited but ready to buy. Giving them product shock when you *announce* your launch won’t do that.

In a high leverage role, it’s easy to find 100s of low cost tasks, but it’s hard to discern things that create massive value, and equally hard to overcome the inertia to take those things on. Thinking in terms of Opportunity Cost forces us to exercise more judgment & discipline.

What we need in Product Management: 1) Less “How will we build this?” More “How will we differentiate?” 2) Less “How to enforce accountability?” More “How to foster ownership?” 3) Less “What problems can we solve?” More “What problems are worthwhile?” © Shreyas Doshi

95% of startups don't need code to find product/market fit 95% of startup DO need a community to find product/market fit Don't write a line of code unless you've got lines of community members 🙃 #startup #nocode #community

Committing to a year’s worth of roadmap is like saying “I’m not going to learn anything new that could change my mind” and that’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

A simple rule to follow for better communication in #productmanagement: - Communicate intention, NOT result Stakeholders will thank you! Ex: If you are preparing something which eventually becomes relevant to engineering, let them know when you start, not only when you finish.

As a PM I find that approach interesting. One of those times I'd like to be able to peek a couple of years into the future to find out today how this worked out.
