🚨This video was discovered on the cellphone of a paramedic who was found along with 14 other Palestinian rescue and medical workers in a mass grave in Gaza. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies presented it to the UN Security Council this week.

There aren’t words strong enough to describe the cowardice and depravity of a “military” that will methodically execute medical workers, bury them in mass graves, and tell the NYT the vehicles were “advancing suspiciously” without lights on. These soldiers and their superiors are

Turns out, LLMs represent numbers on a helix and use trigonometry to do addition. A new paper reverse engineers addition in models like GPT-J-6B and finds a “Clock” algorithm. Numbers are encoded using sine and cosine terms, then added like angles.

“Language poisoning” is real. Consuming too much text can make you mentally ill due to the lower-dimensionality of language. To expand my mind after reading text, I like to meditate on all of the colors in my garden that could not possibly be captured with words

I actually learned how to solve this while studying online gambling Instead of giving ALL parents 5k, every child birthed gets entered into a lottery for a 1% chance to win 500k This increases the birth rates AND gambler genes, pumping both the stock market and bitcoin price

You've heard of the studies where they give the same dataset/research question to a bunch of researchers and they tend to get different answers, right? Why is that? This new working paper shows that it has a lot to do with data cleaning. This is consistent with Gelman's

Last night, I didn’t dream—I scrolled. Scene after scene, just like a feed. Kind of scrolldreaming. Please tell me I’m not the only one?

Huh. Looks like Plato was right. A new paper shows all language models converge on the same "universal geometry" of meaning. Researchers can translate between ANY model's embeddings without seeing the original text. Implications for philosophy and vector databases alike.

“They killed my mother — and before that, my brother. I urge everyone: do not go to the American aid distribution points soaked in blood. This bag only contains 2 empty flour sacks — nothing else — & yet they shot & killed my mother as she tried to get us something to eat today.”
