I learned some things about feline poxvirus as an EXAMPLE to talk about a similar virus. If a cat gets a catpox, it can spread to cat people. If there’s an outbreak & only cat folks can be tested, it will seem like ONLY cats or cat people get it. Cats start getting dirty looks.

In The Nation today, my piece unpacking the idea of “COVID fatigue” and challenging the (seemingly straightforward) claim that the general public is tired of responding to the pandemic. 1/ thenation.com/article/societ…

Iranian team refused to sing the official Iranian anthem at #FIFAWorldCup2022 as a sign of support for protesters in their homeland. Admire everyone who is fighting for freedom and democracy! The price of freedom is so high but it's the only option.

⚡️ BREAKING: #Iran football team captain defies regime, backs protests: “We have to accept that conditions in our country are not right & our people are not happy. They should know that we are with them. And we support them. And we sympathize with them regarding the conditions.”

It wasn’t about making a political statement – human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn’t the case. That’s why this message is so important to us. Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position.
