Just heard that upper earning admins at Marquette are getting $8000 bonuses, which is nearly half of grad student workers stipends. Glad everyone can just keep giving us excuses about why they can't pay us a living wage!

Sad to miss day 5. This has been a phenomenal week! Lots of useful input for career planning and even research. One way to sum it up: empowered. Wonderful job @VileHistorian @BenDangerously and Theresa Tobin

After watching today’s hearing, do you think the #GabbyPetito lawsuit filed against #BrianLaundrie’s parents will avoid dismissal and proceed to a jury trial? A decision is expected within 2 weeks. Let us know what you thought of the hearing in the comments. WFLA NEWS #HeyJB

If your #ADHD friend hasn’t been in touch I promise they still love you. They just don’t have object permanence so if something is no longer in front of them their brain loses track of it. Trust me, when you reach out their eyes light up & they are so excited to hear from u!

That is interesting: The local president of the Social Democratic Party of Zurich wants to limit immigration of well-earning expats. Mainly due to increased rent prices within the city. Interestingly enough more conservative parties don’t agree. 20min.ch/story/sp-will-…

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the Day of Remembrance—a day for all of us to reflect on the injustice suffered by Japanese Americans when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942. #NeverAgainIsNow

"A survey that depicts the minimum living wage in Milwaukee shows that stipends for Ph.D. students at Marquette are $10,000 below the minimum living wage in Milwaukee which is about $33,700." Another failure to live up to Jesuit values! marquettewire.org/?p=4100220

I want to take a moment to acknowledge international students: The constant worry & energy spent working on immigration documents Being excluded from funding opportunities valued for postdoc & faculty positions And the emotional toll of being away from family

I am tired of this lip service - acknowledgments and appreciation weeks. Do something - provide your international scholars with longer term visas, ask you international departments to be transparent, move your university boards to lobby visa reforms instead of #virtuesignaling

PSA to universities: When your PhD students can’t afford rent, groceries, healthcare, childcare and other essentials, something is very wrong. We can’t expect students to succeed when they are struggling to cover basic living costs. Provide more $ support and raise stipends

So proud of you Heather Cox Richardson (TDPR) and so honored that I had the chance to learn from you/ work with you! And finally a president who takes scholars and historians’ views into consideration
