The Living legend in the leek and onion world is undoubtedly Peter Holden. Winning the blanch and pot leeks as well as the collection of pot, intermediate and blanch. What a grower to emulate. Congratulations Peter

The tomato and short carrot classes were well entered with Sweet Candle selection winning the short carrot class, a variety I first introduced to the show world.

Happy to have had a good chat with Robson Green at the North East of England Show. He mentioned, similar to myself how he used to help his dad carry vegetables to flower shows

Great peas from Ian Simpson Scotland, they beat us hands down at this time of year. The turnip Sweet Bell looked really clean. This is one in our catalogue and delicious to eat, just on its own with a knob of butter,!! beautiful

On my way down to the National Veg Championship and stopping to see the RND room of the AutoPot growing system with Jason Ralph-Smith

If you could grow tomatoes for over a year and still cropping. All you need is the AutoPot growing system and some warmth and it’ll keep your tomatoes growing all year round.

I was quite amazed at the carrots and chilli’s growing in the 110L container sitting in the AutoPot Tray2Grow. Taking this carrot home with a few others to see if I can select some good seed from them.

Brilliant onions and leeks from Niall Curry from the Isle of Bute. Owain Roberts from Cerrigydrudion was second with Welsh Seedling. He only had five left to pick five from! Here are my Parsnips lifted last Wednesday morning and still looking good.

Some great peas with the main winners all from Scotland. At this tie of year I can’t get good peas after the middle to the end of August owing to the powdery mildew. Tim Grady was the winner, the pods were 6.5 inches long.
