This fellow, Mandell Creighton, was a Victorian bishop with a passion for history, so he’s got a lovely faux-medieval tomb. I’m quite taken with it.

If you are an event organiser, perhaps consider these bits of advice: think about offering speakers a living wage, offer travel expenses on top, feed the speaker, let them sell their own books, offer overnight accommodation (can be a spare room). Fund events sustainably for all.

I'm sick of "the Dems are just as bad." That's what got us a 2nd Trump term. If you think Harris would be doing all of this, then you're either an idiot or a 🇷🇺 bot. It's fine to be frustrated with Dems. It's not fine to equate them with MAGA, or say the choice doesn't matter.

Trump & his lickspittles are incapable of admitting fault. They are incapable of accepting blame, & therefore of learning from their mistakes, much less correcting them. We've known this for years. In many ways it is the no1 reason we should never have let them have power again.

Good job France, that's what you do with fascist pricks who flagrantly break the law. USA, I hate to say this, but the French are showing us up.

law dog, esq. They long for union jobs that provided stable incomes and built small communities but they won't support unions or worker's rights so wealth continues to flow up while everyone else continues to get poor. They should be asking for unions not factories.

What I respected about #Francis was that he could admit the Church's faults without rejecting any solution but burning it down to start over. Threading that needle is a thing we have all become bad at these days, but Francis did it with humility, grace, and tireless effort.

Thanks to Archaeopress for making the crucial Winchester Studies series more widely available and affordable. Just received three more big tomes for my collection

Everyone agrees you should cut some of your streaming subscriptions. But if you tell them WHICH streaming subscriptions you're thinking of cutting, it will start a fight.

Mamdani's primary win is giving me some hope that my country is still salvageable. The racist and Islamophobic BS in response is testing that feeling, but he still won.
