I click on so many Criteo ads... Not only are they typically relevant to current wants, they have totally put me in market for new products. I say wants, because those wants are most often guitar effects pedals... that I shouldn't buy. BUT I WANT THEM.

Since 2009 I've been playing around with various 'song-a-day' websites in order to share music that I enjoy. My 2023 end of year gift to myself was building one myself that lets you listen to music and browse the website at the same time songobsessed.com

Hmmm. Most layoffs in Large Customer Sales (LCS) unit... Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that unit targeted in the last round of layoffs? Definitely getting "self-serve is the future" vibe.

Gavin Dunaway (he/him) Years ago, Google had to staff up heavily to get customers onboarded onto its adtech and martech stack. A key way Google subsidized their own ecosystem. Now that the ecosystem has matured and the job market has cooled off, they have to slim back down. A years-long effort.

Gavin Dunaway (he/him) And I'd say it's not so much "self-serve is the future" so much as "Google managed services partners are the future." Google adtech/martech still requires a lot of manual effort, it just won't weigh as heavily on Google's own P&L.

Kinda blows my mind that Elon Musk gets revenue from ads that use his likeness to lure people into crypto scams. Oh, and they do it by hijacking the Telegraph's brand identity. Trust and Safety means nothing here. One of the reasons you don't see me 'round these parts as much.

Scopely has stated that Monopoly Go! generated $2BN in revenue on $500MM in marketing spend in its first 10 months from launch. If these metrics are genuine, they almost certainly represent the most profitable first-year performance of any mobile game in history.

I think the most interesting thing about the Taboola <> Apple deal is: for basically a decade Taboola has /craved/ legitimacy, but been happy to settle for big money. Now we get to see what it does with both.
