You don’t need a leprechaun...just follow the “drip” to your pot of gold! ☘️ In 5 minutes, you can search for water leaks and reduce waste. Many common leaks--such as worn toilet flappers, dripping faucets, & leaking showerheads--are easy to fix. medfordwater.org/leaks #FixALeak

The weather is beautiful, but there’s no need to start regular watering just yet! Cooler evening temps and retained soil moisture are doing the work for you, not to mention that rain is in the forecast. You can check your system for winter damage though: bit.ly/4bhtGUm.

If you do need to replace an entire toilet, look for the WaterSense logo. These models will use about 70% less water than one installed pre-1994, and 20% less than the current standard. You might save more since leaks in old models are common. bit.ly/3K6kLHy #FixALeak

Be sure to take advantage of our rebates! We have one that will give you a credit of up to $85 per toilet when you purchase a low-flush model with the WaterSense label. We also have rebates for smart irrigation controllers and lawn replacement. bit.ly/3KJgoj6 #FixALeak

Start saving at the tap! Replace the old aerators in your bathroom faucets with WaterSense labeled models. For just a few dollars and a few minutes, you can save 700 gallons of water per year plus the energy to heat that water. #FixALeak

You can be a leak detective outside of the bathroom too! In the kitchen, check your faucet gaskets and washers. Pooling water underneath dishwashers and refrigerators with ice makers could indicate a supply line leak. #FixALeak

When you go for a drink, check for drips at the sink! Many faucet leaks can also be easily fixed by tightening the fitting or replacing an inexpensive O-ring. Other tips: bit.ly/4hnZ6Io. #FixALeak

If you end up replacing a fixture or appliance, WaterSense makes it easy to select water–efficient products that can help you save water and $ without noticing a difference in flow. Look for products bearing the WaterSense label at your local retailer. 👀 bit.ly/3K6kLHy

Earlier this week we looked for leaky trouble inside your home; let's move outside now! Look for drips and puddles under those hose bibs and any outdoor piping which could indicate a leak that might just need tightening at the joint. #FixALeak

Don't forget garden hoses! If your garden hose leaks at its connection to the spigot while you run it, replace the nylon or rubber hose washer and ensure a tight connection to the spigot using pipe tape and a wrench. #FixALeak

As #FixALeak Week comes to a close, remember that you can check for leaks year-round! When it’s time to start up your sprinkler system, check for broken nozzles spraying in the wrong direction, and check zones and run times. Stay tuned for more tips ahead of the watering season.
