Melanin may mask erythema; De-pigmentation is seen more often in DM/SSc skin involvement in those of color. Low threshold to request for skin bx to help prevent delays in dx. In some SSc pt’s with salt/pepper rash, pigmentation may return as a response to tx - Dr Okoye #ACR24
