the pup walks ahead for some time, but then starts glancing back at the magician. they give a small 'ruff!' and offer their paw, as if asking them to hurry.

scout gave them a little squeeze and then kept going. they seemed to be crossing a forest of sorts. except it was getting quieter and darker by the second. scout would occasionally hit rocks and twigs with their staff to clear the way.
