I do think this is a difficult point. Kate Forbes has said repeatedly that she wouldn't force her views on others but if your faith causes you to have views totally at odds with the majority in your party/electorate they are totally within their rights not to want you as leader.

A lot of people have asked me my views of the leadership contest. Truthfully, I have been incredibly hurt so far. Hurt originating with the statements Kate Forbes MSP has made and since stood by. I, like most people in Scotland, could not care less about someone’s religion. (1/10)
