A local election candidate in Laois has called for an explanation on why it is taking so long for the results of the first count. Sinn Féin’s Aidan Mullins said ‘it is not good enough’ and that ‘an explanation must be provided’. #laois #LocalElections2024

No one has been elected following the first count in the Graiguecullen-Portarlington LEA. Fianna Fáil's Paschal McEvoy is out in front with 1,402 votes. No candidate reached the quota of 1,586 so the candidate with the lowest votes, Charlie Hackett (Grn) has been eliminated.

Fine Gael's Conor Bergin topped the poll in Borris-in-Ossory- Mountmellick LEA with 1,606 votes. No candidate has reached the quota of 1,712 so the candidate with the lowest number of votes Labour's Bryan Corrigan (99) has now been eliminated and his votes will be distributed.
