I enjoyed speaking about 10 years of euthanasia in Canada at McGill University's Runnymede Society chapter. I was told that some of my remarks about the senior Canadian judiciary were "controversial", if that's any inducement to listen to this.

1/2 The amendments I had proposed (or caused to be proposed) to the “Building Canada Act" were, with one minor exception, all adopted by the House of Commons (the Senate still remains), despite the use of the fast-tracking “guillotine” procedure.

2/2 In essence: recognition that these are emergency powers; require parliamentary oversight guided by the common good pursued by the ordinary laws that are being set aside, and finally, prohibit the use of such powers when Parliament is either dissolved or prorogued.
