My art work is a bit crude here, so forgive me. Somebody asked me why Lajes, in the Azores (left white arrow) was so important for air refueling during an Air Bridge. It's not always an important location, it depends on where you are trying to go. If you are headed to northern

#TomcatTails Number 28 #TomcatTuesday “Turning Dinosaurs to Noise Needs Lots of Dinosaurs. Thanks, Airborne Texaco!!” With the last few days of X activity discussing airborne tankers and with airborne tankers in the news, I figure it’s time to give some accolades to the unsung

You may hear the term “Air Bridge” being tossed around…so let’s take a look: It has many variations, but an “Air Bridge” is basically a route that lots of airplanes fly to transport material from a safe origin to the front lines of some conflict or event. The route may go over

If the US escalates its involvement incrementally, tanker support would be the next step that would also test the threshold for a response. It would be hugely valuable to Israel and would remain non kinetic in nature. Would drastically accelerate campaign

Not abandoned, they just moved the airplanes. I’m sure the CAOC is still running. Also, walking like a mile through the desert at 11:00 in the morning to get to your dusty trailer after drinking with the Brits all morning is not a pleasant experience. Trust me on this.

They have time limits on how much flight time they can log on a Coronet. The tanker can keep going, the fighters cannot. There are a lot of other factors that determine if they can go or not – Coronets get complex – but I won’t be sharing those details at this time.
