In 2.5 yrs, she has grown by 5 grade levels in reading & 6 in numeracy🤯. But that's not what's most special. This young leader is already making the🌍around her a better place by helping others be & feel more successful. She is integrity & empathy in human form. OCDSB

THIS IS EQUITY 🔥. As a teacher of children with no prior formal schooling, time will & must be individualized and variable, while mastery learning and high expectations must be fixed. What if we redesigned the whole education system this way? ⚖️ OCDSB @CarletonHeights Lakesha Young

We need to create schools that are organized to meet the needs of the students they serve. We need to stop expecting students to adjust the schools, and if they can't - stop blaming and pathologizing them - instead, focus on engagement and nurturing the love of learning in them.
