A1) BRING THE JUICE 🧃 Building relationships so I know when an athlete feels “off.” Keep the training competitive! Make it fun to be training. I always want my class to be the best part of their day. Still hold a standard but dont be uptight. #ironspeedchat

A2) Show them their progress both in training and with their grade. Most athletes already want to improve if they’re in your class. #ironspeedchat

A3) Show and talk about the veterans in your class. Show them where they started and how they’ve progressed. Get the veterans involved with teaching too. While we may be the experts, the upperclassmen are the idols in these kids eyes. #ironspeedchat

A4) Find out their “why” What motivates them? Build a relationship with them and figure out what makes them tick. When an athlete knows you care they will work that much harder for you. #ironspeedchat

A5) Knowing how much you impact you have on each athlete everyday is so important. Some days can be hard but my students make it worth it. Another big thing that I look forward to at the end of the day is picking my son up and I always want to give him my best. #ironspeedchat

When I was a younger coach I thought you were a good coach if you nitpicked everything to death and constantly corrected. Now I realize that actually makes you an AWFUL coach.

If you are a High school athlete that can’t make time to get to the weight room… I hope you don’t plan on playing at the next level, because trust me you will be training year round. Even on game-days👀
