Good tax policy should avoid cliff edges (ref. Dan Neidle ) or behavioural change kicks in to mitigate it. Is there a better/worse example than this as for some the best tax policy will be to ensure they are not here next April ?

One last crop still in the field here. Will come in in a month’s time. Next crop in this field will be an early generation seed crop of a potential new group 2 wheat KWS Voyage which could be recommended Autumn 2027.

I wonder how many fellow passengers waiting on the Cholsey train platform just now enjoyed the grey partridge calling on Ben Ryman’s farm as much as I did ? Not many me thinks. PARTRIDGE network

“The effects of the family farm tax means we will lose the farm. Bear in mind we are the smallest farm locally. We have an inheritance tax liability of £600,000. That’s unsustainable for us.”

Me Billy no mates yesterday. Picture doesn’t do this hill justice, it’s a fair old haul up this one but absolutely perfect conditions to plant wheat this autumn (for a change!)

Growing crops just as grim on the other side of the pond at the moment as here. The best cure for low prices is low prices, that’s the saying isn’t it? I hope so just having filled a shed with urea this week

Last night we were monitoring birds on a farm. The Pulsar Telos has revolutionised our work and we ringed 19 Skylarks and right at the end we ringed this stunning Golden Plover. They are just the most beautiful wader.

Always happy to help fellow farmers in need. With my mix of machines, animals and people the boot is very often on the other foot! Emptying out a neighbour’s broken sprayer of herbicide so it doesn’t settle out in the tank over night.
