This seizure contained 16,715kg of pangolin scales. Using pangolino.org/converter we estimate this to be the equivalent of at least 50,000 pangolins. Proper inventory, regular audits, & safe storage are essential. The long-term goal is destruction of all stockpiles.

New paper showing that Condors can use the same nest at least for 2200 years. We evaluated changes in diet and exposure to metals during the period they used the nest. This guano deposit revealed responses to major and long-term changes in the environment doi.org/10.1098/rspb.2…

Hungry for development + industry investment, the NT government is putting one of the world’s last intact tropical ecosystems at risk. Scientists from Deakin University + Charles Darwin University call for an urgent overhaul of Australia’s "grossly inadequate" environmental laws. ⬇️ theconversation.com/land-clearing-…

I spent years as a fauna consultant surveying for Gouldian Finch and seeing just a few would get road alignments reconsidered and habitat protected. Now here we are with the biggest population anyone has seen and Tanya Plibersek approves the clearing of their critical habitat.

One of the highlights of being back at Hunthawang homestead, the #frogs! So many different species came out, Sudell’s Frog, Spotted Marsh Frogs, Giant Banjo Frog (Giant Pobblebonk!), and Green Tree Frog’s just to name a few. #HERper #FrogID #FrogIDAus #Australianfrogs

The scale of the fires currently burning across northern Australia is pretty unfathomable. This animation visualises just the last two months of fire captured by #DEAHotspots - for context, the map covers an area larger than France, Spain and Germany combined...

The bulldozers destroying habitat for endangered Gouldian Finches, black-footed tree rats and over 270 bird species at Binybara/Lee Point. This is a place beloved by thousands of people across Darwin. Its loss is a failure of our environment laws, and deeply upsetting.

BOOOOM, Marcelina has just pushed another 527 kms northwest, currently on the Newcastle Creek between Daly Waters and Tennant Creek! She is now over 2100 kms from her spring home in Balranald. This is incredible to witness.
