Nakula kiwikiu has been found alive and well! Male kiwikiu, known as wild male one, was resighted on Wednesday! This bird was translocated to Nakula during the 2019 translocation effort and was last seen over 600 days ago. A full press release here: bit.ly/3xWzTyN

MFBRP Avian Disease Associate, Erin Bell is currently in Ecuador volunteering with LifeNet Nature. Erin is gaining amazing first-hand experience while honing her mist-netting and bird banding skills that she can bring back to use while in the field on Maui.

The next Maui Mauka Conservation Awareness Training will be held on April 28 from 10 am-1 pm. The training is free but registration is required. The guest speaker is Ekolu Lindsey. For more info and to register visit mauimauka.org

We are looking for donations of clean 2-liter plastic bottles with lids. These can be old soda bottles, water bottles, etc. All bottles need to be clean and have a lid that closes. Drop-offs can be scheduled in either Pukalani or Olinda by emailing us at [email protected]
