This is why First Past the Post minorities are unstable. Why bother with other parties when you can call an early election and regain your majority with less than 40% of the vote. This wouldn't be an issue if Justin Trudeau kept his promise on #electoralreform #cdnpoli

Why might we have an early election - only 2 yrs since the last one? B/c In our non-proportional system, a single party can win 100% of the power with 40% of the vote. That's a powerful incentive to pull the plug. Most Canadians would prefer ongoing cooperation in a stable govt.

Folks haven't forgotten that in 2015 Trudeau promised it would be the last election using the first-past-the-post system. We're now squarely into our second FPTP election since he made that promise to Canadians. 🧐 Fair Vote Canada 🗳 🇨🇦

If Trudeau wanted to do progressive policy, he could have done it with NDP support. But what he wants is a majority so he doesn't have to do progressive policy.
