Keeping British Columbians safe is our highest priority. People struggling with addiction deserve care and compassion, but there shouldn’t be any illicit drug use where our kids play or where hospital patients recover. Everyone deserves a safe community.

'Trump-style politics': BC NDP MLA on Rustad's plan to compensate anti-vax healthcare workers.

“John Rustad’s obsession with conspiracy theories and fringe ideas is dangerous and it shows he’s not focused on the things people actually care about.”

We're debating the Haida Title Land Agreement and the opposition critic, Michael Lee, says he hasn't even seen the agreement. Mike - it's on the website. I believe you were invited to Haida Gwaii to see the signing. Huh.

Here's link to help ya out www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/env…

Wild to hear the BCUP claim they didn’t support decrim. They were part of an all party committee that recommended it. And those recommendations were adopted unanimously in a vote in the house. Elenore Sturko said it (before they tried to backtrack):

Today Falcon claimed his party never supported decrim.

So rarely in politics can a lie so easily be debunked.

John Rustad I live on Haida Gwaii. I’m not First Nation. I am very proud to live on an island where we are leading the way on making things right.

I can't believe my ears. Sitting in the house listening Michael Lee say that the historic day on Monday where we introduced the Title Recognition Act with the Haida in the house was a 'stunt' and a 'noise making'. Appalling. @chn_HaidaNation UBCIC

Canadians are a patient & understanding bunch. What we don't stand is blatant hypocrisy.

On Monday afternoon John Rustad faced the Haida Nation in our legislature and said “I support title … it’s what has to happen in this province.”

Now he is scaring British Columbians by falsely claiming that private property throughout BC is at risk. Simply untrue. /1

I’m going to be very careful. Very precise with my words here.

What the Conservative leader claims in this post about the Haida agreement is 100%, proven lie. Period.

Private landowners are protected. In writing. In the agreement. Period.

Fear-mongering garbage John.

I made a promise to Carson Cleland’s parents that we would find ways to make sure their son left behind a legacy that helps protect other young people on the internet. I am pleased Meta, Snap, TikTok and X have agreed to work with us to move this important work forward.

That's why it’s so disappointing that he’s now saying something very different on social media. Words matter. I hope he will consider their impact. 3/3

The agreement between BC and the Haida Nation resolves title on Haida Gwaii, and has no impact on private property—and he knows that. As he said yesterday, he supported this process when he was the BC Liberal Aboriginal Relations Minister. 2/

I'm very disappointed to see John Rustad say one thing in the Legislature, and turn around and say another on social media 24 hours later. Yesterday he said 'I support title... it's what has to happen in this province.' He called it 'an important step.' 1/

Yesterday was a memorable day. President of the Haida Nation, Gaagwiis Jason Alsop, was part of a delegation of Haida Nation citizens present in the B.C. Legislature for the introduction of the historic Haida Nation Recognition Amendment Act.

drex Peter Kelly Just minutes prior, he stood up in the house and expressed his support to the Haida for this legislation. He explicitly said it was the right thing to do. Then he walked out of the house and recorded this trash

This is not true. The agreement states:

'The Haida Nation consents to Fee Simple Interests on Haida Gwaii continuing under [BC] jurisdiction.'

And that the agreement will 'not alter or derogate from those Fee Simple Interests or any rights or interests associated with them.'
