"I don't recognise those figures". This is odd given the figs Trevor Phillips quoted to Matt Hancock are govt's own figs from its NHS Test & Trace spreadsheets. They show it waited far longer to put India on the red list than Pakistan after its Covid positivity hit a certain level

Obvious issue with this answer; if we continuously pull the plug on travel due to unknown risks, rather than rely on the vaccine, then we’ll never go back to normal. Govt creating a gold-standard ladder from which it can never climb down from.Where does this leave Global Britain?

In the U.K., British Airways have put staff back on furlough while Easyjet is cancelling mass flights for July In Germany, Lufthansa is putting on a B747-8 to Palma due to exceptional demand. Are we getting how dire the U.K. situation is yet?

UK travel workers and leaders are urging the government to "save the summer". With time running out, will the government respond in time? Or if not, will they provide financial assistance to save the industry? #aviation gridpoint.consulting/blog/will-the-…

Thunderstorms seen from the flight deck window at night are always an amazing sight. This beauty was on our flight from Dubai to Heathrow Airport last night. Awesome power.

I really REALLY didn’t want to have to do another Covid thread. Really. But given the numbers are on the rise - along with the inevitable hot takes (we’re heading for disaster! The vaccines aren’t working!), I’m dipping my toe back in the waters. Hopefully not for long. 🧵

We flew the approach to LHR yesterday in parallel with another A380, with a third a couple of minutes ahead. If you had told me a year ago that would happen, I would not have believed you.

Many ask why the SAS planes are standing still. Why are the pilots frustrated? How to emphasize that the strike isn’t to demand more pay - but something completely different? #sas #flysas #strike #pilots #norskflygerforbund

U-turn alert. We DID decide to do a final song about the collapse of the government. So here’s “Gee, Sir Graham Brady” – our parody 🎶of “Gee, Officer Krupke” from West Side Story. In which we finish by calling for a #GeneralElectionNow 👉youtu.be/n49KYIo106U @SirGrahamBrady

Last night I checked into the emergency department at my local hospital*. I saw firsthand what has happened to the NHS. However much you read, it doesn't prepare you for the terrible reality. This thread tells a now-ordinary but - in this rich nation - almost unbelievable story.

A standing ovation in a packed-to-the-rafters Royal Albert Hall, at 11.30pm, on a weekday, for playing the organ. That is some achievement Anna Lapwood - that was mesmerising to listen to.
