I just love it when people get what they deserve. Thanks to Deb Friis @runningstitch314.bsky.social and a fantastic group of kids, they smashed it 👨‍🎓👩‍🎓. Time to treat myself. I'm flying to the ⛰️ in club class. I could get used to this. 🍸

I said to my year 11's that I was also training hard while they were revising. They received their just rewards last week. Here's my reward. 4 hours of climbing to Col de l'Iseran, the highest pass in Europe.

I loved seeing this question being asked by a teacher at SRWA today. It followed some questions on HCF. 'true or false? 7 is the highest common prime factor of 2x3x5x7 and 3x7x11'. Great on so many levels.

Some light reading on cognitive science and educational psychology? How about my article "Thinking About Learning Mathematics" in the SMC journal. Page 32. Thoughts welcome. Find it, and loads of other great articles here: scottishmathematicalcouncil.org/wp1/smc-public… @ChrisMcGrane84

I was banging on about creativity in maths to my year 9’s. Blank expressions looking back at me. 1/2 hour later using this resource from donsteward.blogspot.com/2016/06/parall… a pupil suggested translating line segment EF to find angle d. Love it. I’m continually amazed and surprised.

WHY if 32r = 27h is the ratio of r to h 27:32 and not the other way around? I'm sure it should be obvious but I can never get my head round this and it is increasingly appearing on GCSE papers. Simple explanation please - preferably with diagrams! Thanks

Notes from SRWA's own Mrs Corrigan currently on teacher exchange in Shanghai. "Every lesson is 35 min in primary school and 40 min in secondary. The music plays and the students are focused, silent and ready to learn on their lovely individual desks." NCETM Sussex Maths Hub - Collaborate | Engage | Inspire

I have been surprised by how long teachers have taken to introduce concepts. Generally, half of the lesson starts with a simple example. It is explored in many ways and generalised before moving on. Students can then answer really challenging questions. SRWAcademy Sussex Maths Hub - Collaborate | Engage | Inspire

OK, so the Y6/7 transition packs were soooooo popular, that I was thinking of asking the unbelievable content design team SparxMaths to create a booklet/course to support for y11/12 transition (i.e. getting ready for AS). If a good idea, RT this to sigal "yes please I want one"
