Two new properties added to Epping Forest DC housing stock with the completion of Spinks House in #WalthamAbbey. Delighted to have cut the ribbon with Liz Webster, widow of Cllr Don Spinks for whom the houses are named. Also joined by the Housing Portfolio Holder Holly Whitbread
Honoured to have delivered the Proclamation of the Accession as Chairman of Epping Forest DC and pleased to have been accompanied by rosemarypadfield Deputy Lieutenant of Essex. A good turnout for this moment in history.
A pictorial floral delight on display today as part of the Flowers in Bloom competition run for Epping Forest DC sheltered housing residents. Great to see what can be achieved in small spaces and congratulations to the winners.
Yesterday was a beautiful day to have a leisurely sail on the Blackwater from Maldon on the Thames Sailing Barge Hydrogen for the Maldon District Council - #MaldonDistrict Chairman Cllr Bob Boyce’s reception.
Pleased to have been able to visit the ehaat_ base at North Weald Airfield for the unveiling of the sculpture, Reflection, designed by Leah Jelf, a former Harlow College student. A thoughtful piece of work. Good that she was able to have her family present for the event.
Belatedly, thank you to Rabbi Odom Brandman for inviting me to speak at the lighting of the fifth candle on Chigwell’s Menorah representing Epping Forest DC. It was a honour to be there and to wish the Jewish community a Happy Chanukah.
Congratulations to Limes Farm Community Group on receiving an award from the Essex_HS to support the football sessions they run for 4 - 13 year olds. The funding for the awards comes from Essex Community Foundation.
Thanks to Royal Gunpowder Mills for giving High Sheriff of Essex - Julie Fosh the opportunity to visit this very interesting site along with myself and @DarshanSunger. The fire alarm system, basic by today’s standards, would be state of the art in its day. Worth looking at their website for forthcoming events.
A final picture of me in #Hertford Town Council robes, with Mary Sartin who has just stepped down after 20 years on Epping Forest DC & my father John who did a marathon 25 years on East Herts Council Council until 1995 - so a collective 64 years of Sartins Councillor-ing!
Delighted to have presented the awards at the regional final of the Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge this evening. It was inspiring to hear the young people making their speeches on a range of topics and all without notes! Thx to Speakers Trust & Jack Petchey Fdn for all you do
A final activity as @EFDCChairman raising money for my charities for the year, ehaat_ & St Clare Hospice. Thx to Rotary Club of Harlow Tye for organising the abseil event at Church Langley Water Tower. Many thx to all who sponsored me. Now to collect the rest of the money.
