Well both my moth traps were empty in South Norwich this morning, but we did have a lovely furry Lime Hawk Moth sitting on the top of the actinic. A miracle it wasn’t gobbled up by a robin

Can’t put this down
Heart breakingly sad, disturbing reading. So so well written & has really got to me, a hefty book at over 700 pages but still 110% recommend

mary walker Steve Keen It can be very good, it can also be v bad. I’ve had wigeon in a forest (great tit), American robin (song thrush). But it picked out kingfisher yesterday calling by the stream near home long before I saw it. As for the nightjar, who knows, the guy I was talking to is all over it

mary walker David Wheatley I wouldn't trust Merlin to be honest.
Not to say it wasn't a Redstart, just that Merlin can be a little, er, unfocused with its identifications.
