Since being elected, I have advocated for public housing on public land, and today on foot of my amendments to the LDA Bill, the Minister has committed to increase the provision of public housing on public land to 100% in Dublin and Cork, which I gratefully welcome.

According to our 🆕report: #EU agricultural funding destined for #climate action has not contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from farming. 🌾 ➡️CAP measures have a low climate-mitigation potential ➡️CAP does not incentivise effective climate-friendly practices.

Hugely historic day as cabinet agrees to ban fur farming. This has long been a Green Party Ireland policy and securing the end of this practice is a huge win for animal rights activists across the state. irishtimes.com/news/politics/…

Climate fraud: CAP deal makes 40% of all spending automatically count as #ClimateAction regardless of whether the money actually improves or makes things worse. Basically a slap in the face to European Court of Auditors and to science, and to taxpayers, and to the youth.... #WithdrawtheCAP

"The world doesn't need Ireland to feed it" especially when so much of our exports are things like milk powder that is an unnecessary luxury item for most. Farming & farmers are essential, but not at the cost of human health, climate damage and biodiversity loss

I have commissioned a major report on the #Horticulture industry which will analyse the sector & identify opportunities for the future. Yes there are significant challenges now, but we need a roadmap to chart the way forward for growth. Read more here: tinyurl.com/eunh6d6s

Officially back. What better way to kick things off than spend a day in court with Patrick Costello TD as his case to determine whether CETA esp Investor Courts can be ratified by TDs or if it needs a referendum. I am very grateful to him for taking this case in the interest of the public

I spent today in the High Court, it was the first day of my constitutional challenge on CETA. We need to establish with certainty on whether the Dáil can ratify CETA and it's new courts-the Investor Court System. As TDs we need to be certain what we're doing is constitutional.

@BrianLeddin Also worth noting these are ‘Government regulations’ not ‘Ministerial regulations’ - Minister is not just weakening Advisory Council’s power, he is weakening his own & creating unnecessary hostage to political fortune. Would be far better to pass Bill without these amendments.

I wish it weren’t so but I’ve ZERO trust in the bioeconomy venture to make a difference for declining & degraded wildlife & habitats. I’m concerned it will exploit new areas esp marine for industry. Restoration of ecosystems, habitats, wild bird populations should be first step.

“France and Spain both want to withdraw from ECT...Italy left in 2016 but is being sued under a “sunset clause” that means former members are subject to the treaty for 20 years after they have left” - #CETA also has a 20yr exit clause which will apply if it is formally ratified!
